Don’t cry for me TopGear Australia

I made it not through your first,
nor will there be further
viewings of your crap,
this viewer is leaving,
she’ll keep her distance

Oh what a heartache,
I dare to say,
When I think of the laughter,
the memories, and the banter we shared,
TopGear U-K
You will always be
Dear to me, I will miss you, of that you be sure
I hope that one day there’ll be more…

Don’t cry for me TopGear Australia…
Just read my scathing review
Your days are numbered
I hope they axe you
Get off my TV
Before I break it.

It was awful, wasn’t it? I was so disappointed. Sorry to say I won’t be watching any future episodes.

my son always watched TopGear in the UK. It’s a good show. I think if they tried to bring it here to the USA they would probably ruin it too.

I’m with you Selma. Maybe we should head to the DVD store.

Poddys: They did take it to the US – first they put Clarkson, Hammond, and May through a US challenge, but they declined a regular season because of having to be away from their families. However NBC has ordered their own version with three US presenters. Expect it mid-2009. My view is that it will be just as bad as our version.

I’ve never seen the show (UK or Australia) but nice work on the lens.

NBC has a mixed record of bringing UK shows over here. They ruined Coupling but did awesome with The Office. TopGear sounds like one they could easily ruin.

Yes, it comes down to luck. If the presenter/lead actors hit the right note, it can make a huge difference. I believe Steve Carell is excellent.

C’mon give it a break, you want it to be something it’s not, UK Top Gear is a brilliant show and i will never bag it, Aus Top Gear is different, sure the presenters arn’t clarkson, may and hammond but they are australian, which makes them good. Look at what they have to live up to with Top Gear UK, i think they are doing a pretty good job living up to it.

You obviously didn’t read my lens ;) That is the exact point I made there – Top Gear Australia is a COPY of Top Gear UK, and additionally it has REPLACED Top Gear UK, therefore they have given themselves the mammoth task of producing something that is equal in quality and value. Impossible to do with a brand new show. It cannot be different, otherwise it is a different show – so my question to you is: Why didn’t they simply create their own car show? Or revamp one of the many Australian car shows currently screening that I bet you don’t watch either? (These have Australian presenters, too, you know.)

None of us would have an issue if Top Gear UK remained on air. What we object to is the stupid attempt to replace a sure thing with a dumb copy.
